DFW X5 e70, speaker stereo upgrade, 214 rims & misc.?'s

HI,

Sorry for the general title I am a new 2 me x5 owner of a 2008 BMW x5 3.0si, I have searched and cross searched and still have questions please HELP!

1. speaker system upgrade - have the hifi and found good reviews on the BSW speakers, i am trying to stay somewhat factory...

2. i have stock stereo w/ no nav, i have seen "aftermarket OEM" replacement Nav system for about $3k, is that plug and play anyone have any reccomendations of other options? I am sticking with my phone for maps as Id hate to ruin a good thing, for now....

3. any recommendations or reviews on 214 rims for my x5? I have 18" rims if I change to 20" will i also have to replace the TPMs and if so does this require reprograming?

4. any reviews/opinions on the factory style x5 running boards going for $360 on ebay?

5. anyone know of someone that can "repropgram" my x5 in the DFW area, ill gladly pay, no time to tinker...

6. on the angel eyes are the LUX-h8 hte best option not to trigger codes? Are these the 5000k color rating? Any thoughts?

Thank you for time and sorry if I repeated other topics on here as I have no one else to turn too....

Moshey,

I just purchased and installed the Weiss-Licht Led upgrades. There was a huge price discrepancy between those and the Lux. I've seen both in person, and it didn't seem to me to warrant paying an extra 130 bucks for the Lux.

I have the same ride as you as well, and I"ve been looking for running boards. I've found here in Glendale, CA at Pacific BMW, the running boards are $323

The X5 is already equipped to handle the Satellite radio and Nav, but you have to pay for the module, the upgradae and the installation if done by the dealership. The nav before the '10 models are pretty damned slow compared the newer models.

Thanks for the info poiboy! So no codes with the Weiss-Licht Leds? Thanks for the tip on the running boards BUT with shipping (196) it actually places them at a higher cost than my local dealership...

I think I will stay away from an OEM nav retrofit unless the dollars and sense come back inline.

Moshey,

Sorry about the running boards, didn't take into account your locale. There is a guys with a site that talks about being able to retrofit the 2007-2009 monitor dash with the more recent dash and screen. But it's a doozy when it comes to cost.

bimmer-tech.net i believe. There is a user here on the forums that has had this proceedure done. He doesnt' go over cost but goes over the run down.

If you want 214s, I'm selling my OEM ones I would not buy repros but then again, I've had bad experiences with them in the past. Your TPMS should fit fine.

I didn't want to spend that much money on something that was purely cosmetic, so I went with the Umnitza V5 which are almost 1/2 off (about $80) at the moment. No codes and I like them a lot better than the GP Thunders which became really dim after two weeks.

I was going to mention Patryk- you will get a new I-Drive system with the new CIC (hard drive based) nav and entertainment system...

For me,nav and audio is something I use - directly...personally I'd skip running board, wheels, etc, and focus on stuff that impacts me as I drive and interact with the car.

Enjoy

Moshey,

I'm in the Plano area, I am also looking to get running boards and also the programming done.... If you find someone for the programming and a company for the running boards, let me know, or visaVersa.. Maybe shipping can get lowered

Ak.
