Powder Coating the 214's

Hey everyone, I was thinking of powder coating my 214's a gun metal grey and read on some boards that the heat/baking process can actually weaken the alloy thus weakening the wheel. Has anyone had any experience with powder coating their wheels? Am I better off having them painted instead? Thanx...

I've had numerous wheels powder coated in the past with no ill effects. I'd have them done by someone who knows what they are doing and enjoy your new look!

@FernMD

Your car would look like so much better with gun metal or ferric grey wheels --- I'm speaking from experience

From what I've seen, I wouldn't have concerns about powder-coating; I just just didn't find a reasonable price when I was looking.

I'm going to need a new set of summer wheels (and tires) soon and I might get a set and have them powdercoated/painted to one of the greys. If you do it, please let us know how it went and where you had it done.

Thanks

Thanx,
Prices dont seem to bad. Also have to pay for dismountinmg and re mounting/balancing my tires. May use this opportunity to change my RFTs to Toyo's.

I like the grey metallic, gum metal, and the black chrome colors from that shop. But its too far of a distance for me.

Brain5x, I'll let you know how it turns out.
I am considering two places right now:

1. Shoreline Coatings Shoreline Coatings: Powder - Ceramic - Firearm Coating
2. Proformance Industries PROFORMANCEINDUSTRIES - WHEEL REPAIR

Anyone know of a reputable shop? I live in CT. THANX

@Throatpunch

Those wheels look great and those prices look good. I might consider driving to PA for that...

its nice going- it is a father/son operation and they are very nice people to work with.

Also they have a display of aluminum bottles of almost every color they offer so you can get an idea of what it will look like when done.
