Canadian Tire & Rim Warranty

Any Canadians chime in on the cost of the Tire and Rim Warranty. I know lots of people think this is unnecessary, but from my past experience it has paid for itself 3 times over. Last time i paid $599 dealer now says they deal with a new company and its is now $1,299 plus taxes. Will discount to $999 plus taxes.

Is this a BMW plan? or a 3rd party plan the dealer is selling?

You know my feelings...have you looked into buying road hazard insurance from a national tire retailer in your area? Just call up and talk to the manager- tell him what you are lookign to do. I know a few people who have done this for $120-160. just FYI.

I know your feelings on this LOL....not much choice here in Canada, I don't know any tire retailer up here that would offer a warranty on tires not bought through them, even then I have not heard of any available Canadian warranty that is similar to the ones available from American retailers. Normally I am with you ard on the warranty issue, however, my current X5 went through 2 rims and 3 tires.....gotta quit parking at the nail factory lot! Anyway i have been able to negotiate down below $1,000 if i decide to purchase. BTW Sym-Tech is the warranty company the dealer uses.

If you are damaging rims, then I can see the value.

BTW, nobody down here publicizes this arrangement- you wont find it on the internet, and many people woudl say what you've said about... but they are surprised when they ask and a manager says "yeah, we can do that". From the manager's point of view it is smart- he sells a warranty that makes him a little bit- AND he knows you'll be back for warranty AND replacement tires! Anyway, I'm trying to spread the word!

I asked about BMW vs third party as it gets hard to compare prices as you dont really know the underlying value- with a BMW plan, that is a known entity and you can compare what others pay....
