Exporting X5- Procurement Company in Spain

Does anyone have any experience exporting a vehicle overseas. I have a procurement company that wants to purchase my X5. Sounds like a scam, but thought I would check with everyone. Thanks.

Depends entirely on how they want to pay for it and where they want to take posession. If they want to come to you and you get paid, it doesn't really matter what the new owner does with it.

It's a scam.

However, in general, exporting a vehicle overseas is rather easy if you have title, with costs vary from $800 to $2K depending on itinerary. You just contact a shipping company and they handle everything.

Now, there's a separate subject of exporting a brand new un-titled X5/X6, but I assume it's not the case here.

Just be careful when you do the vehicle/money exchange that they're not driving an Audi S8 and the man carrying the briefcase full of money is not named Gregor...

I sold a used vehicle to a procurement agent that was purchasing for leasing companies. When they called, I told them that if they were interested to come to my place, with a certified bank draft. They did, the next day. They didn't test drive it, they did a 2 minute inspection, and they said they didn't need any of my carefully prepared vehicle history file. They paid my price. End of story.

If this company wants to come and buy your vehicle, fine. If you want to ship it out of the country on the expectation that they will then pay for it, give your head a shake.

This is a dumb thread, but I will add that people are counterfeiting bank checks... you could find your car gone and on a container ship before you bank calls you and tells you the other bank refused the check.

There are also phony third party escrow companies. So NEVER use one THEY suggest.

OP- forget about licensing and certification...keep your eye on the money and the car.

Agreed. My standard practice is to go with the purchaser to his bank. They give me the bank draft and certify it. I give him the car.
