Premium Sound and 6 Disc DVD

I have the premium sound package in our '08 with the 6 disc DVD changer in the glove.

Is this only a DVD changer or can we play CD's in it as well? If only for DVD's, it seems like a bit of a waste of space. What is the purpose for loading 6 DVD's in that can only be watched while the car is in Park with the PB engaged? We had a 6 disc CD changer in our E53 and it's nice to have.

Those of you with the DVD changer, please chime in and help our transition to the E70!

Although I didn't get this option I can assure you it plays cd's as well. Just like on a computer if it reads the DVDs it reads CDs. Now tht I think about it even ur standard DVD player plays CDs.

Ur DVD changer can also read mp3 files so u can copy over 3gb of music onto a DVD

MP3 data DVDs

Video DVDs with Dolby Digital or DTS sound.

I have it as well. It does plays CDs, etc. I do think it's waste of space in the glovebox.

That's why I didn't get it.
The car has an internal hard drive, I can use a USB stick and my iPhone/iPod and it has a DVD player

A few points.

Not having the DVD or cd changer does not create any more space in the glovebox.

In 2009 or earlier the CCC DVD drive wasn't able to play DVD video disks and didn have a hardrive for music storage

The DVD changer was bundled with the premium sound package.

Well if it's not a waste of space it's a waste of money for the same reasons I stated earlier lol

I tried to burn a DVD with mp3's - this DVD changer does not play them. I used DVD-Rs, with the lowest possible speed burning. Next step would be to use DVD+R blanks, maybe that will do the trick. It does play CD-R's with no problem though and displays mp3 tags as well.
