Rims and Tires 20''

a friend of mine is selling his X5 E70 with

Front: 275/40/20
Rear: 275/40/20
with run flats. he asked me is i wanted the tires before he sells the car. I have now 19'' rims and run flat also. Does it really has a difference in driving ?

When i check on the internet where they sell tires and rims then they all say that rear tires are not same as front tires for the E70,can someone explain to me before i make the decision to change them?

Front: 275/40/20
Rear: 315/35/20

the 20" OEM should be staggered (as you said 275 front, and 315 rear)

Your friend may have gotten them aftermarket, whether they are real or not I have no idea, but he may have been able to source 2 sets of OEM fronts. The rear rims are physically bigger and would not have been able to mount 275 without them looking very stretched.

so better not change it, i do not want to have tires that will not be good for the car or for my own safety

What? There is no safety issue with this. The front tires are just narrower than the rear, factory option rear tires actually look good gives it a wider look. I have the 21's myself. Que pase buen dia.

Stick with your stock 19" rims.

20" is worse performance, worse ride, more expensive to buy tires....

I just noticed what you were saying about being the same size for front and rear even on the width. I dont think those are OEM wheels; 20" and 21" have always been stagard as far as I know. Only ones I've seen not staggered are some on ebay and they are not OEM. But either way if you want them they wont cause any problems. As far as ride goes I didnt notice a differance in ride quality, I've had the 19" and 21" on my 2007 and the 21" on my 2011 and rides fine to me. Tires are expensive though.
