hissing/humming sound from

Hello Yall,

I have this constant hissing/ humming noise from the my engine bay. My mechanic says my air valve is bad and needs replacement. My car also has a high MPG (6.5). Its an 08 X5 4.8(E70).

Any advice on how I can remedy this would he highly appreciated.

What is an "air valve"?

(ie you need more info from the mechanic and need to post more info here....)

Get the real name of the part and replace it, or let him replace it. Assuming he knows what the part actually is...

The part number is 13717548899 and its rubber boot with resonator that need replacing. Wonder why he called it airvalve! Could that be the reason for high fuel consumption and engine hesitation?

suspected faulty oil separator / PVC valve..just do a search, it is a common problem for RHD car I believe.
