Going to install LCI headlights in my pre-LCI
There are no headlight removal instruction in this forum so I was hoping someone could help me out. Some post say you have to remove bumper and fender, other mention that this is not necessary. Some seller in Germany told me that this was done there 3 times and it basically plug and play except coding has to be done. Any insights? |

So, you ended up buying the 1000$ headlights with LED Coronas?

Well, you can probably sell the old headlights for $700 apiece.
The net cost of your coronas will end up being $600 for pair. You would have paid around 250$ for LUX and others. None of those look as bright and white as coronas. Not to mention the viewing angles. I think it's a good deal in the end. Good luck installng and coding. |

I have the MTEC 6 Watt but was not happy with the look compared to the coronas The inner ring is brighter than the outer and looking from different perspective changes the look as well
The new ones have 2 LED's, one for each ring. |

I'll be very interested on your progress on this. As I've been told they can't be retro-fitted to pre-LC1 models.

Yes, that was I was reading as well but I found someone on the coding forum who did this and only had problems that the coronas did not turn on Fter install.
The eBay seller wrote me that he sold 3 of them and all 3 are installed on ore ore-lci x5. I will know as soon I figure out how to take them off. There must be an headlight repair advisory showing how to remove the headlamp. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?tpnfes |

I'll give you my thoughts.
1) You will have to remove both the front bumper and fenders to get to the mounting bolts and remove the lights. 2) You will need to code the FRM module to deactivate the bulb check on the AEs. 3) I believe you have to code "something else" to get the adaptive portion of the lights to work. From what I've read, just swapping the lights, the headlamps will work, but the self leveling and adaptive portion may not without some coding. Be sure to check out bmwcoding dot com to see if anyone there has some insight. |

^^ Both the bumper and fenders have to be removed to remove the headlights
