There are no headlight removal instruction in this forum so I was hoping someone could help me out. Some post say you have to remove bumper and fender, other mention that this is not necessary. Some seller in Germany told me that this was done there 3 times and it basically plug and play except coding has to be done. Any insights?
Good luck! Keep us posted. There a lot of people who would like to do this mod. I looked into this when I had my 2010 an I was told, by BMW, that it can't be done.

I just talked to one of the major retrofit coder and he told me it is possible and was done before. I also have some response from the German forum and they told me that 2 members already did this and he is doing it next week. Everything suppose to be plug and play except coding and that the junction box has to be exchanged for the newer JB3.
There was some rumors that the adaptive headlight has some problems with this retrofit but that would be all. Not sure that this is the case but I will see as soon I find a manual on how to remove the headlights.

That is what they told me about the CIC and combox retrofit as well and now you can even use FCS codes to make it work.

The eBay seller wrote me that he sold 3 of them and all 3 are installed on ore ore-lci x5.
I will know as soon I figure out how to take them off. There must be an headlight repair advisory showing how to remove the headlamp.
You can take pics and do a DIY article to add to our "Articles section".

If you had changed the front bumper and fenders to X5 M front, then you could have put the new "Adaptive LED headlights" as seen on 2013 X5/6 M and 6-series/6-GC

Keep us posted.

That's a good one:-) I could buy a small car for the price of those headlamps :-) My guess is $6000 for both LED headlamps ....

Beautiful .... Now my LCI lamps look only 1/2 as good Thanks for spoiling my excitement (JK)

Do all LC1 E70s come with adaptive headlights as standard? Or are they standard on only certain models and/or packs? Like they are on pre-LC1s.

My 2008 diesel didn't have them fitted (thought I do have the HID or Xenon lights). If I do tackle this retro-fit, I'd like to get non-adaptive headlights too.

BMW charges $1900 for the LED headlights option in US.
BMW will introduce laser headlights with 2014 X5 or 2015 7-series. You probably saw them in latest Mission Impossible on i8
Xenon headlights will be old by then.

Technically, that will not be laser light, but rather white light from phosphorus invoked by laser.
That's similar to how hagolen gas gives off light when invoked by electricity.
