I installed the FRM3 with no problems but was waiting for some warm day to install the headlights in my garage. I am not sure if the FRM3 was required but I did it anyway.

So did you use NCS expert to add your VIN and FA to the FRM3 and then just processed the FRM? I'm wondering if the LED coronas will work with the FRM2, but just not have the ability to dim.

I read somewhere that there is an extra wire that controls the ability to dim in the harness, but I haven't taken a look at WDS yet to confirm.

I was told something similar when I asked my dealer to retrofit my original 2011 (traded it in for another). They indicated that the wiring was different and that if installed, the led coronas would not work. I am not sure if they meant they wouldn't work at all or they wouldn't work right but they weren't even willing to give it a try.

This thread is of interest to me Sky-chicken and I will be watching it with interest as I am looking at changing my Halogen headlights on my E70 X5 to Xenons and have found a pair of OEM E70 Xenons for $1600 with all the wiring and mounting brackets required. Phoned up BMW today and they said it was going to be $4k just in parts itself, good to know now that I don't need to remove the front bumper or the fenders on each side to gain access to the fixings that needed to be removed. Keep me posted. A detailed DIY on how to do the change over will help a lot.

This might sound crazy, but I want to get the X5 M fenders (keep my current bumper with the duel radiators and performance bodykit) and upgrade from my 2013 X5s Coronas to the new LED headlight option for the X5 M and X6 / M. I know it sounds crazy, but I love the Look! I saw them on a new X6 40d.

Thoughts?

Have you seen the price of those, about 3800 Euro if I recall correctly.
