2012 X5 Diesel with fuel leak.

Car has 5000 miles and started leaking fuel from somewhere near the engine. Leaving fuel on ground when parked over night and can smell it during driving. Looked around engine but could not see anything obvious. When looking under the car can see the wetness, but no source. Bringing to dealer on Monday, but was wondering if this is an issue that people are familiar with.

No reports that I can recall in the 3 years I've been following diesel X5s...

HOWEVER, I just had a major fuel leak in my MDX- drove up to the mountains and within 3 hours a critter had found and chewed a hole in a fuel line in the engine compartment. Very. very strange. Could not have been old as the fuel was gushing from a gnawed hole.

Luckily some duct tape and a hose clamp in the junk box in the trunk and I limped to a parts place for a coupling....

I would avoid driving it or parking it near me if it's still leaking, unless you are a fan of fire.

^^ It's a diesel. Fire isn't the risk that gas would be....

Bad fuel rail connection. No parts in the US, 10+ days to get a new part from Germany. Drawback of engine being built in Germany. The US needs to start carrying more parts for these diesels.

Hmmmm...so I guess that the trans fluid, also not the risk of gasoline, that burned my brothers car to the ground, is not a risk.
Try pouring it on the turbo hot side or exhaust manifold.
No, it wasn't a BMW.

I would not drive it. It is not safe. I would push the BMW Assist button and get it towed to the dealer immediately.
