07 E70 Aero kit prices, comments guys?

I have an 07 E70 Mineral Green. Pregnant wife had someone rear end her slightly causing a little dent on bottom part of tailgate. I am thinking of using this excuse to also but an aero kit from ebay now and have body shop paint it.
I found this aerokit on Ebay for $398.00. Comments? Shoud i buy these?

I noticed the forum posts said a year ago the kit was running for $800. So I am thinking these are replicas and if so should I still get them?

I've never installed (or had installed) replica aero parts myself, but I have read that sometimes the fitment is not as good as OEM. But it could be a good deal if the parts are of decent quality and there aren't any wonky panel gaps.

Isn't the bottom part of that picture of an AC Schnitzer kit?

I've had replica parts before, and they are hit an miss. I've also seen a replica of this aero kit listed without the bracketing parts in black in the picture. Those you will want to watch out for. This one, if it comes with all of those parts, may have decent fitment.

You get what you pay for. If you buy replica you may spend more time and money on fitment issues. I say save and go OEM.

The pictures of the BMW, in the eBay, are not with kit! They are some other kit...

If I was the OP, I would keep looking. People sell used Aero Kits that are already painted (hopefully in the color you want )

I would only consider buying this replica kit if someone else had bought it and recommends it...

Thanks for the input guys. OEM is the way to go and what I had in mind, just wasnt sure if members had installed non-OEM.

Brian, noticed you have the same color x5 as me. For our mineral green color, was the paint an exact match since its not sprayed on metal. Paint shop mentioned sometimes they dont match and have to tweak the paint a little. Any advice from others on experience they had with aero kit would be helpful.

FYI. We don't have the same color. I have the Space Grey.

I actually negotiated a good price on mine when I purchased my X5. It was painted by whatever paint shop the dealership works with.

I have never heard that mentioned that a paint shop may have to tweak the paint a little. It goes over a primer. But I'm not a painting expert...

Thanks Brian. When I bought my car they told me it was space gray until i saw it and told them it wasnt. I guess I am colorblind Alot of people have mistaken the mineral green for space gray the stealership has told me.
