can factory satellite radio be added to an 09 x5?

im looking at one that doesnt have it and i really like sat radio...

Yes, in 2009, it was still a seperate module located in the left side of the trunk (SDARS module I think). It needs a MOST fiber connetor and power. Then some coding to let the car know its there.

And sat antenna in the sharkfin. It might be pre-wired ... Can't remember.

You'll need a mount bracket too. Yes it is located in left hand side of trunk, next to the external hd radio module if you have one.

another problem is finding one. You may have to go used as I think BMW no longer sell the external module. Make sure you get a MOST one ... Not I-Bus !!

^^ No longer sells it??? WHat if one fails under the extended warranty? They buy your car back?

^^ In cases like that, they save any exsisting stock for warranty purposes.

Yes. Exactly. The sat reciever (and hd receiver) moved into the CIC. So these external receivers were only for CCC cars although I'm using my external reciever with my retrofitted CIC. It can be configured that way.

They have them for warranty but that's it. No longer available as a accessory option.

I have a new one if anyone in interested (was for an 08 but should be good for up to 10 I think before the CIC switch). PM me.
