X5 E70 2011 model Connected drive question

Hi,
I know that Connected Drive functionality varies very much depending on which country you are in. Unforutnately, here in Swizterland, functionality is close to nill which means that you are limited to some useless stuff like being able to browse the web via the display.
I read that in other countries that provide more comprehensive features, you need to add an option that allows you to put in a sim card into the car with which you can use the BMW Remote app for the iphone.
I also heard that these additional features will be rolled out in Switzerland sometime in the second half of this year. What I am curious about is:
1. Do you think it will be retroactive and therefore something I will be able to add to my 2011 model?
2. If not, will I be able to use other features such as BMW Online which includes weather and google stuff (ie does this also require a built in sim card?)
Sorry for ranting but I find this all confusing and the dearler over here is not very helpful.
Any insight would be much appreciated.

Contact Patryk at bimmertech. He will be able to help you. You just need combox media and a iPhone with tethering to enable BMW live. This will give you weather, google street view, news, wiki local, google local search, etc.
