the fob most likely was squished by some other objects in the purse, so as she approach the vehicle she got in the range... happened to me a few times.

I've unlocked my car doors while sitting in the driver's seat without touching the center button. That keyfob in the pocket is dangerous! I'm sure if it was pressed longer my windows would've rolled down too and that would've just been funny.

I had that problem 3 times. I wasn't sure if it was the remote in my pocket or something faulty. I spoke to my service guy at BMW he said there has been instances on rainy days, when the driver door is open and rain trickles, it messes up a "sensor" causing the windows to roll down. Another thing that may be an issue is a sensitive latch they said.
My car is going back next Friday for diagnosing. I will let you guys know if they find anything. |

This is the only time that this has happened. They have never rolled down on their own before, just this one time as she approached the vehicle. I know that it was well into the 90's that day so was not sure if it was something that when the interior reached a certain temp if it would roll them down as you approached to let some cooler air in?

Got my car back and they diagnosed that they were seeing some strange voltages so their solution was to give me a new battery. But I see your x5 is a 2011 so you should be fine unless you have really short drives or you listen to the radio with the car off for excessive periods of time?

Try a key case
I had the same problems - windows rolling down and rear hatch opening. I solved this by purchasing a key case which prevents the button push while in the pocket.
Yes my family laughed and teased me. But once I showed them the practical value, they scoffed at my explanation. |
