Cargo Cover - can't remove. Any suggestions?

I have a 2007 X5 and can't removed the cargo cover. The button is easily depressed but does not release the cover for removal. It has not been taken out of the car for almost a year, has never been stressed or damaged in anyway.

Has anyone else had this problem? Will likely have to take it to dealer sometime next week.

Press the release and slide that side out first

I've found that holding my left hand against the top of the mounting point on that side, while releasing the latch on the other end with my right hand and gently pulling th right side toward me works best. Make sure you are pulling straight back, and jiggle it a bit if you need to jar it loose. Once it's been on and out a few times it should get easier. If you have a third row seat, be careful not to pop off the spring loaded plastic clips that hold the seatbelts in place.

After folding down the back seats, I was able to hold down the button and "firmly" tap the cargo cover out.

Thanks for the help.
