2012 Nav missing established roads
In the last three weeks, I have driven 2K miles across three states. I did not take notes on the outbound trip but coming home I was so disappointed that I made a few notes.
Top on my list are well established interstate intersections in Nashville, Memphis, and Little Rock. When I last drove my 2008 X5 through this route (summer 2011), the nav had no problem with these intersections, however the 2012 X5 missed them completely. I did not see anything in the turn (split) screen and obviously there was no voice warnings at a time it was sorely needed due to rain. It is well known that BMW created this kind of problem by leaving Navteq so does it do any good to complain to BMW about my problem? I certainly don't want to pay for an update that I have no confidence in for solving this and like problems.

I finally just gave-up on the BMW/TeleAtlas GPS data and use my portable Garmin GPS when I go on a trip of any length. Seems kinda silly to be using a $150 portable GPS when there's $2,000 one built into the vehicle, but it's better to have good data, even if it does require using a suction cup on the windshield.
BMW should be ashamed of themselves. |

Well, I don't want to return to what I started doing in the 2008 X5 because in search of newer roads I would use the $50 TomTom on my iP4 which I placed in front of the BMW nav screen.
I would be of all people most miserable to do use the iP/TT with my 2012. There is also the issue that I now use my iP (in a vent mount) for Escort Live with my Redline in the windshield and the V1 not far away.

Just curious to know which intersection/s in Little Rock did your nav miss? I've had my 2012 X5d for just a couple of days and have not had the chance to test the nav around town yet... |

When going west on I-40, soon after the Residence Inn at NLR it becomes important to move to the far right lanes right about the time you pass the huge UPC church. On this last run, my SO was driving and I had glasses (not contacts) so she could have gone left with I-30. Prior to this, all my navs clearly warn me to get in the right lane and turn right by my 2012 nav kept reporting on something that was 25 miles ahead and nothing in Little Rock.

So, I'm too wondering if there's anything that can be done to address this issue with the 2012 BMW map info? |
