Clicking from gear selector
My 2008 X5 makes a "clicking sound" when I pull away from a stop. I've read that there is an interlock solenoid?
Dealer said it is normal, but it didn't make the noise when I first got the car. Doesn't make the noise when the selector is in the "sport" position. Thanks in advance for any advice or help. |

I had the clicking sound on my 2003 Altima when pulling in or out from stop.
It was due to plastic part in the gear lever assembly worn out. When vehicle came to a stop, the plastic part would disengage to unblock and allow the gear to be placed to "Park". With time, it worn out and became making the clicking sound during engaging and disengaging. But, I dont know how that would be related to X5 with their joystick assembly. Maybe there is something similar? |

^^Thanks.
After searching around I believe something must be wrong with the interlock solenoid. Before I go to the dealer and try to get it fixed again, can anyone tell me if their X5 makes a similar sound when taking off from a stop? Also does this fall under BMW's CPO warranty? Thanks. |

In my read of the CPO, it should be covered.

I have a 08 whit over 60,000 miles and never heard such a noise, have it check by your dealer. Good luck.
