I just realized today that removing the existing hitch i currently have on, requires me to replace that with the existing bumper reinforcement, of which I do not have because I bought the car CPO. So... anyone know what the part number is for the bumper? Not the fascia but the bumper under the fascia.

I don't think anything gets removed when installing the hitch, but I might be wrong. I know with my aftermarket hitch, I didn't have to remove any of the existing structures.

Xtony sweet, with your aftermarket hitch, how big of a cut did you have to make for your access? I know with my X5 it's not the same cut i've seen on other X5's it's much lower and more under the bumper than the other's i've seen, i'll have to include a pic if the topic demands it.

If I recall correctly, I only had to cut about an inch deep and 6 inches wide under the bumper. Nothing is visible from behind. I think the aftermarket hitches hang a little lower than the factory hitch and therefore none of the visible bumper needs to be cut.

That sounds like my set up too.. Okay great, based on that, i'll go "spelunking" under my X5 and see what i can see. Hoping for the best.

and to my dismay, that is not the case... in crawling under my ride, it's clear that the hitch hardware sure enough replaces the bumper reinforcement, and requires a new part... great....

Yorktownman,

well a few things:
1.) My part is on order
2.) Is your 07 the newer body style?
3.) how much would it be to send something that heavy to NC? For some reason I cant get ups to update the site.

Well yes it's the new body style ... any idea on the weight? I'd be happy to come to an arrangement on shipping ... but I would need all of the electrical connections etc. Do you think it's possible to remove everything without messing up your X5?

Yorktownman

Unfortuantely today i was going to cancel my bumper order, of which i was told I was not able to. Beacuse the part was already shipped out. So I will be waiting for that new part to arrive. I apologize.
