Looking at a 2007 X5 3.0si

All

I am new to this forum but not new to BMWs. I currently own a 1995 e36 vert and a 2004 330i ZHP. Indeed I have owned and worked on BMWs since my first e30 back in 1990. Anyway, I am about to look at and possibly purchase a CPO 2007 x5 3.0si. I was initially interested in a 2005 or 2006 as I am very familiar with the M54 inline 6 engine. However, my wife just loves the look of the the 2007. I must admit that I like it's look also. Anyway, are the 2007s more difficult to work on for a home mechanic than the m54 engine. How reliable is the 2007. What mechanical problems can I expect? I assume BMW still has not taken care of the cooling system? What else should I be looking at?

We are looking at a CPO Platinum Metallic Bronze X5.

Many of us have 2007 models. The later the build the better I would say. By now most models will have 65k+ so most major issues should be fixed. I would absolutely do a PPI to find out what has or needs to be fixed. If you see major issues or repeat issues consider walking away. What is the price? What options? I looked at the 3.0si but it was a bit underpowered for my lead foot so I got the 4.8i so I would make sure to test drive first

Thank you for your reply, very helpful. I tried posting the link to the one we are looking at from Auto Trader but it wouldn't work. Anyway, it is a CPO x5 with 45,000 miles advertised by Bridgeport BMW. Premium Package listed for $30,750. Let me know what you think.

I assume that the car has less than 60,000 miles, I don't think BMW will CPO any with more miles...
I'm looking at 09's Prem and some have Sport packages etc they can be bought for $33 to $39,000 with somewhere around 30 to 40,000 milles CPO.
This is in South FL where BMW's and M/B's are sometimes called Fort Lauderdale Chevies
Check the FL dealers on line CPO cars listings... or
buy my super nice 06 Saphire Black/Tan Sport/Prem Sirius 53,000 mile one for $22,000

I just bought my wife an 07 4.8 Sport loaded all the way down to the 3rd row seat for 30K with just over 30K miles. Not CPO, but what I thought was a great deal and from a dealer. I realize the OP's is CPO, but that seems kind of high for a 3.0 which there seemed to be some crazy deals on while I was looking.

From your BMW history/knowledge, I assume you looked at the BMWNA CPO/used car locator...but, if you didn't/don't know of it, I plugged in some parameters that might fit your looking. I used Glen Head, LI simply because that's where my wife was born, for 'area look'. Hit the Search button in that link for a list, or redo the parameters you are seeking.

Well, it's time to deal with the "car salesmen" again...I absolutely dislike these people..generally they don't know the product, lie, and are full of S**T...aside from that they think we are stupid!
I find this especially true here in S. FL
You would think that with all the info you can find on the internet they "might" try to be more truthful.
Does anyone reall believe that a dealer will loose money on a car just to get another sale?
What I'd really like to know is what the dealer pays for a lease return...is it the trade price or lower....
After going to a particular dealership twice because the had what I wanted, only to be shown something that was on my list of DON"T WANTS
It makes me want to just keep my 06 X rather than move up to an 09.
But I'll keep plugging away...
You being a retired OF like me, are probably just as tired of the B/S..
But here goes round 3....
Excuse me rant over
