pano roof question

Hi...i would like to know if the pano roof design was improved on a 2009 versus a 2005 .....thanks for any help....also i took a 2009 4.8 out for a test drive today and when i shut the car off and removed the fob the component that houses the nav cd was making the same noise that a computer dvd player makes when you insert a disc i found this odd...when i removed the nav cd the noise stopped...is this normal....thanks for any help...i put a deposit on the car and just want to be sure....thanks again.....rob

I love the pano roof in the E70. I always have mine open to let in more sunlight.

I think it was optional on the previous X5 or only available for the high end (4.8is), I have no experience with them.

The pano roof does make noise when going over a sidewalk into a parking lot for example, which I think is normal.

The navigation DVD spinning noise is annoying. And I even hear it when driving. I'm trying to find a way to silence it, but I have yet to find it.

older BMWs (iBus models) wind down after the key is taken out the car, for about 16 minutes - various modules stop and go to sleep within that time frame at different points of time, and the last one standing sentry is the alarm module if so equipped...

So, maybe the same principle still applies to the newer models?...

PS. i did notice though, that if the interior light is left on, it goes to sleep after couple of hours after the last activity... So, LCM must be staying up longer...
