I Can't wait to be an x5 owner!

So yes. For now, I'm a heavy duty lurker. Drooled all over my ipad while surfing the picture thread and have been scouring the pages looking for tips on anything from maintenance to accessories. Definitely lots going on here and I'm glad I found this site.

As for me, i'm likely looking into a 2009 35d. Made an offer on a high miles one the other day and got shot down. Dealership didn't feel like negotiating at all. Which seemed strange considering we bought our first BMW from them two years ago.

So on to the next. The one I'm looking at now is a 2009 CPO with 44,804. They want $39,998. It's pretty much got everything. Premium pkg, Tech pkg, ipod/usb adapter, rear climate pkg, ventilated seat pkg, cold weather pkg, running boards, premium sound pkg, rear camera... the only thing I really need that it doesn't have is a hitch.

Now i'm a bit jaded by my other dealer experience so how much wiggle room is there really in these prices? I mean In my mind, the 39 that they want is pretty fair but am i gonna piss them off if i push for let's say 36-37 with a hitch installed?

Thanks!!

From my dealer, got 2k$ down on the price of my CPO 2010 35d + 2k$ more on my exchange.

Try your price, the worst they can do, is refuse.
Negociation shouldn't stop there; If it does, walk away.

Don't get screwed just because it's the truck you want, there's always another dealer and another truck...

I don't understand why one would be concerned about "pissing them off". It's business, they certainly have no reservations about pissing you off when you go in 3 yrs later and they tell you they want to steal your car and that it's not worth anywhere near what you thought.

Forgive me, but one shouldn't ask if they will take x, one should TELL THEM one will pay x and be prepared to walk away if they are abusive or otherwise disrespectful. Who cares if you piss them off, you're there to buy a car and they're there to sell a car, what's to be pissed off about?

Yes yes I know. I'm fully prepared to walk away. Doesn't mean I can't be a nice guy. Besides. That's why my wife does all the negotiating. She's a banker. I do the mechanical inspection, while she watches our kid... She talks numbers while I watch the kid. Should see the look on their faces after they've spent their entire time sucking up to me and then have to 'negotiate' with her. Then they find out she works at a bank!

Same thing here, my wife's an accountant !
Not to make the salesman bleed thru his ears, but it's my money after all, so I do participate.

I'm that much closer!! I went and test drove the 09 CPO I mentioned earlier and we signed all the paperwork. Only problem was that for some reason the credit bureau BMW uses and my wife's bank uses came up with completely different scores so both us and them have to figure out what exactly is going on and decide which direction to go with the financing but it's ours!! 990 below ask with the hitch installed! I think we got a great deal on it. Their price was a little over 2k under NADA and carfax told us to add 380 to the NADA figure too so with the 1200 hitch installed I feel good! Can't wait for delivery!!

Now I gotta figure out that iDrive which isn't the newer more user friendly one lol
