2011 X5 5.0TT

So I am thinking about buying a 2011 X5 5.0 TT. Anyone have experience with this model and are there sufficient upgrades available, e. g., increase horse by 50+? I would assume this is available since power gains on a turbo vehicle are easier to achieve via chips, exhaust and possible turbo upgrades. I would like to get some reasonable power gains for the price. If cost end up close to buying a 2011 X5M then the X5M would be my option.

Thanks for your input/thoughts.

BTW, I currently own a 2005 X5 4.4 (w/sport package) and love it.

cmyX6go will become famous soon enough
I'm not sure if it was an option on the 2011 X5. 2010 X6 had a performance upgrade option that was a few hundred $ and bumped up HP by 40. They later rolled it out to the X5. It is now part of the M package on current models.

Price difference between new 50i and X5M is big, not sure what happens in the resale market. Good luck.

EDIT: I just went through this entire thread and couldn't find confirmation it was available in 2011. Plenty of questions whether it was available (reference to option code 7RR) but unless I missed something the question wasn't answered.

Maybe LeMans knows....I tried but my attention span ran out.

Thansk cmyX6go.

I got tired as well after searching this site. I did a quick search on autotrader.com and found that a 2010 X5M is not far off on pricing as a 2011 X5 5.0 . . . leaning towards a X5M but if I can't find the color combo I like then back to the X5 5.0 . . . decisions . . . .

I believe you can get the OEM M-performance software flash but I have not gotten confirmation from my dealer if that option is even available outside of purchasing the
X5 new with it. There are a bunch of tunes out there for this motor. Here is a starting link for Dinan flash for this car. 96hp for 3k

Dinan Cars - Stage 1 Performance Engine Software/Boost Upgrade - X5

Yeah. I saw that. Looks promising. Decision now is to buy the X5M or X5 5.0.

I really suggest you talk to your dealer to let you demo one for a few hours. I was torn between f10 M5, 550 with a tune. I had a 550 for a few days when one of the cars was at the dealer and the dealer gave me a ride in the new M5. I was unsure about the size of the F10 but it was really nice inside. I did test drive an M3 DCT which i test drove for almost an entire day and I can tell you that day, i learned an M car is much more than just HP. If you just want a highway rocket, 50 with Adaptive Drive and a good tune, your close to 500hp and a car that is very nice and can handle the curves quite well. You also get the lovely 8sp trans which in my eyes is perfect for the 50. In my eyes, the M cars are much more raw and a lets you know it is not just a regular car. I know the rear suspension carrier is different than the non-m X cars to improve the handling even more than just the AD. I wanted a X5M with third row and found out the rear suspension on the m is different and would not accommodate the third row. There is a reason why they say "///M the most powerful letter in the alphabet" it is in a class of its own.

Just a quick side note, the 2011 is a 4.4 liter motor, not a 5.0 - common mistake.

I think the OP may have put the "." in where it should not have been. 50i is the official "terminology"

My bad . . . used to have the 5.0 Mustang . . . old habits.

Either way. X5M seems like the better choice.
