Question about my build date (and Oct 2010 refresh?)

I recently bought a pre-owned 2011 35d and, according to BMWVIN.com, it has a build date of 06-24-2010. I was surprised to find such an early build date. I didn't think they started building for the next model year until Aug/Sep. Is it typical to see builds as early as June?

The reason I was looking was to find which version of the TPMS my car has. Which according to this post is the early version.

Also, in post #13 of that thread someone mentions an October mini-refresh. I tried searching but couldn't find any information on this. What was changed in this refresh?
