Few questions

It's been a while since I've posted, and just wanted to run a few things by you folks.

First "annoyance". Since it's been rather cold outside, when I drive my car first thing in the morning, when braking or making a sharp turn, I hear a "chirping" sound coming from the front near the windshield. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the seals on the windshield as the sound is not there at all if the car was in a warm garage or something and also goes away once the car is nice and warm

Secondly, my car threw up a Level Control System Malfunction on the iDrive and dash. Caused the right headlight to flicker and told me to not drive too fast. As soon as the car was shut off and back on, haven't had it come back. While I was getting my brakes done at my mechanic, he checked the codes for me. There were a bunch of power level codes from most of the systems from the time that I ran my battery down while tailgating at a Jets game, but that was months before this happened. The code that was in the Dynamic Stability Control was a 6EC4 steering-angle sensor, adjustment.

Since I confirmed that this is covered under CPO, I took it into the dealership. They checked the codes, and because of all the power faults, blamed it on that, even though the events were months apart. They still dinged me the fee to check everything, and cleared all the faults, and told me to come back if it happens again. Has anyone else had the dealership not research a code because of a dead battery that happened months before?

When my Steering Angle Sensor went out my vehicle acted pretty wonky. I still have the original battery BTW. 105K miles.

What in the world were you thinking when you told them about the dead battery?!??!!??!

You gave them the implement with which to screw you! Really silly to trust the dealer to take information and use it to diagnose- they use it to screw you.

How old is the battery? I think you'll have a new battery in your future- failure mode seems to be weird, unrelated errors as modules do funny things.

if you do replace it, DONT BUY IT FROM A BMW DEALER.

Really had no choice as every module threw up voltage errors from when the battery died. It's not like that's what I said when sitting down with the SA. I told them the battery drained months before after they called me with all the faults that I already knew about. Had I not explained it, I'm sure that they would have not released my car without a new battery Battery is original, but going strong.

I'm stuck with PSLs and season tickets. I tried an add on Craigslist offering to trade my PSLs for a bottle of Coke Zero, but the asking price was obviously too high.

I just got a new set of tires today. Man the ride is quiet on fresh tires.

Anyhow, another question. Sometimes when I fill the tank, it shows me over 400 miles to empty, and other times, it shows around 350 for the same full tank. Any idea why? Does it factor in if you've been doing more highway or city driving?

Yes. To calculate the range, the vehicles does a "near-term" average based on the driving characteristics of the last few kilometres. This is independent of the actual average displayed on the Board Computer/iDrive screen.
