New to me 2007 X5 4.8i

Well, after deciding a Subaru Outback wasn't a great winter beater (who would have thought......) I found myself a nicely used X5.

She's a 2007 with 125,000km (~78,000 miles) with every option I can see, save for the third rear seat and the rear DVD entertainment.

The interior is immaculate considering the age and mileage. Very nice black leather. Given its my winter vehicle, I found a set of OEM BMW style 210s with studded winter tires (albeit Federals) with less than 500km (300miles) for only $800!! And does it ever pull like a damn freight train in the snow!

So far the only issues I have are the following:
-lack of USB port for my iPhone or USB stick. It has the little aux plug that I'll try to work something out with.

-the fuel consumption is nearly as bad as my supercharged M3!!!

-it has the dreaded "water in the tailgate lights" issue that I totally didn't check before I bought it...my mistake. And of course, one of the lights is burnt out.

My question, until I can get a replacement light, is there any way to disable the working light (I know, not legal) so to at least have a symmetric light scheme in the rear? Would it be as simple as getting to the light and unplugging it? (I'm guessing there isn't a single fuse solely for those two lights)

Short of those items, I love this X. It's space grey like my M3 and my wife's 335xi, and thus, I've named her Rhino.

Thanks for all the posting on here, people seem much more friendly than the M3 crowd.

Great to hear you moved from a subie to an X5. I gotta say, there are a ton of subarus around me in upstate New York, I just never saw the appeal!! Is it an SUV or station wagon?? Argh

As for aux, looks like the X didn't come with iPod integration, so yes, you're stuck with the aux cable.

And btw, we all like to see pics! Especially of the supercharged M3

1fastm3,

OK, I'm definitely envious of your M3

Check out this thread and in particular this post (with video) for info on replacing the rear taillights.

Thanks, my wife auto-x's the crap out of her car.

If you notice the M3, it's plate is SCHNLL, as my province doesn't allow 7 characters to have the proper spelling of Schnell. I had an E36 325i that had SCHNEL on for 16 years, but I sold it last year So, I'm reapplying for it for the X!

For your amusement, and entertainment, here's the specs on my X.
