Xenon HID replacement bulb (4300k vs 6000k)
What I want to do is replace the yellowish 4300k stock bulbs with something on the lines of 6000k. Has anybody done this? Last edited by Toneaero; 05-09-2013 at 02:29 PM. |

Not knowing your exact build date, upon looking at realoem.com for a 2010 X5M it is a D1 bulb.

Does anyone know if the stock headlight housing is a (S) shield or a (R) reflector housing? The aftermarket bulb im finding is a D1S bulb...for a shield type headlight housing. Does it even matter? |

D1S bulb is a D1S bulb. Going for 6K?

Yes, I had 6k to even 6500k HIDs on other cars before and I like the white with a very slight hint in blue.
After a bit more research, bulbs with an "R" usually have a painted section that diverts the light pattern. Bulbs with an "S" are for housings like the X5 where its a projector beam housing. This bulb has no paint on it. Watch for another thread in the near future with HID kelvin swap! |
