Seriously, "looks like a Kia?"
I LOVE my X5 5.0, but the Cayenne (IMO) looks just a tab bit nicer than a Kia.

I did, and I did like the Cayenne. However, I also tested the VW Touareg and that put me off on the Cayenne (why buy a luxury car that's been shopped). I ended up with a X5 50 which I by far liked best for my budget.
In my opinion if budget was not so important, I do think the Cayenne S and above are a step above the X5 but they're also a lot more money. But then again, I would have tested a number of more expensive cars as well. |

I have both (X5 and Cayenne CTTS) The cayenne is fast, comfortable, and the interior is nice (especially with the extended leather). But, I cannot pick a favourite. They are very different, my X5 is less thirsty (obviously) being a l6 diesel vs a V8 petrol, but they both pull well. Both have air suspension, but the cayennes is a lot more boat-like (even with the Techart lowering module) and the X5 feels more sporty. I would say just find a good cayenne or X5, you won't be disappointed whichever you choose
Just avoid the V6... big difference between the V6 and V8 cayennes.Cayenne - 6speedonline.com Forums

I second that, what X5X said. The V6 and the V8 Cayenne is like night and day.

I did look at both. I really wanted to go with a Cayenne because I'm a former Porsche technician, and I know all of their common issues, and I can work on them with my eyes closed. I was, however, set on a Turbo, and the nice Turbos were just out of my price range. I think I got more value out of my 4.6is than out of a comparable Cayenne S.
