Actually I did hear of someone loosing the U joint and causing other damage. Guy was in atlanta as I recall. ill try and find it.

BMW is horrific for tracking parts. Down there I bet it is even worse. No words of wisdom, sorry

make sure they have ordered EVERYTHING that might have been damaged- even cosmetically. Are you comfortable with the guys doing the work? Make your concerns known, maybe they'll pay extra attention...

that's not too bad!

I'd rather to wait for them to get it fixed properly with the correct parts from Germany etc...than rushing the job and returned the car to you asap.

Was it covered under BMW Roadside assist?

Yeah, BMW Roadside have covered everything so far.
I've sent an email to BMW Germany via their Facebook page and my complaint has been forwarded to head office so maybe I might get some answers.

With regards to the repair it was towed to a BMW dealer so I hope it get fixed correctly.

Well after 43 days stranded at a dealer waiting for parts to arrive my pride is back on the road. As soon as I got behind the wheel I knew the reason why I bought an X5. I missed it.

Thank you to BMW Australia for putting up with my frustrations because of the long wait.
Lets hope this doesn't happen again.
