First ride post RFT dumpage
Appearance wise I think they look pretty good. They look more narrow in the pics than they do IRL. I have no issues with the fit and I like the tread pattern. Apparently, i'm screwed should it snow or freeze but I can work from home whenever I want and we have a WRX that beasts in snow. Given its the off year we get snow. Since I have summer tires it will probably snow everyday.

I'm on my second set, the vreds do get noisy, it happened to my first set, and its happening to my second set now. (this is after verifying alignment specs, and ensuring they were balanced properly). They are amazing in the wet though.
I won't be buying another set though, I'm going to try Falkens next spring.

Good looking pattern, (sort of lifted from the orig GY Eagle F1 Supercar tires, imo), and I have seen them on Xs. Interesting how the same size tire can be so noticeably narrower...
Whenever I have re-tired, it always feels like a 'cloud' for awhile, but every brand, style and model, over 50+ yrs of driving, have gotten more noisey to some degree, after a while. NEway, titz looking tars, and hope you dodge the higher elevation snows in SEA area this winter. GL, mD

Buying new tires in the next week or two (all 4).
Currently have 18" BS Duelers. Leaning heavily towards non-RTF. Got tired of tramlining, (relatively) poor snow and rain traction and noise. Checked out Conti DWS, but seems there are way too many instances of virbrations for no reason after installing them. Kind of cautious. Need all-seasons; it rains 7 months out of the year here, with temperatures in 40's. Besides Conti DWS, what would you guys recommend? |

You DO realize that RFT is a feature and not a model of tire, right? |

I just ditched the RFT's as well. I went with the Toyo Proxes
Ride is much smoother, but they do look slightly smaller than the dunlaps that were on there. Ride quality is much nicer, but sidewall stiffness in turns seems a little softer as well. ( trade off I"m willing to pay as I don't expect this to be a sports car.) The toyos are all season so no worries about wet or snow All in all nice tire. Considered the Verds as I loved the tread pattern, but didn't want another low mileage tire. also conspired Falkens, but ruled them out based on a previous attempt at putting them on another car ( serious balance issues) and the advice of my wheel and tire pros I went with the Proxes Please update this thread as you get more mileage and let us know your thoughts as well. Tires for these beasts are not cheap! So it's nice to get a good database going on tire wear and ride quality of replacement options

I had Toyo Proxes on my Touraeg and they were fine. I went to Hankook Ventus after those and liked them a bit more. Def better looking, imo. The Touareg was a beast in the snow, btw.
Of course I know RFT is a feature. Don't be that guy.

Vred does make a winter tire but it doesnt come in the staggered size. Group 2 Motorsports over in Magnolia are auth dealers. Its a cool shop if your interested. Lots of track only old 2002's and that sort of thing.

Toyo Proxe ST IIs have been great for me as well.
Still on the original rears (look new) after 25k and just replaced the fronts. They are great in all weather, except deep snow, where they are just pretty good.
