2008 x5 3.0 Radiator Cost

I noticed couple days ago a small liquid spot on the bottom of the engine floor. I checked, it was my coolant. Saw a little rusted hole in bottom of the radiator, called the dealership quoted $600 + tax + labor = $900~ for the radiator and a hose that you have to buy with the radiator. A friend of mine said I shouldn't buy online, because they are poor quality and I will just keep on buying over and over. Could you spare an advice?

You can buy genuine BMW parts on line... where you buy them isnt the issue.

The radiator failed on my 08 3.0SI at 52,000 miles and was replaced with OEM parts for about $500.00 USD and an afternoon's work.

My strategy is a bit different, I generally look up the parts at realoem.com, and armed with part numbers, use Google to find the best price from known suppliers. ECS Tuning won the order and supplied the parts with genuine BMW parts labels affixed.

Having a factory workshop manual on hand is critical to successfully completing most tasks, assuming you choose to use the same standards of workmanship as a dealer.

realoem is great for part numbers but folks should knwo that it is not an accurate pricing source! (They tend to be historical MSRP prices, not actual real prices.) Ive never found ECS to have good prices, but definitely will hold your hand in the process. They'll put together a 'basket' order for you if you need them to.

FYI getbmwparts is actually the online storefront for a BMW store (Tischer BMW). BMW of South Atlanta is another with an online storefront. Not sure where ECS buys, but it must be from a dealership as BMWNA only distributes via dealer.

Actually Ive found that letting my 12 year old tackle it is the way to get the same standards as a dealer......

BMW of Morristown has the lowest pricing for original BMW parts from their Trademotion site. Look and compare.

Hi Jeff, perhaps I'm getting a bit daft, but I tried the Morriston TradeMotion site and find the info difficult. For example, if I wish to buy a water pump for my 08 3.0Si, I can find two different pumps, but can not ever see any part numbers.

Without part numbers, I'm uncertain which pump meets my application.

If you or someone more familiar with this web site, would explain how to better use the info, I would be most appreciative.

I see 2 water pumps for an 08 X5 3.0. One with and one w/o 4 zone control. I assume 4 zone control means vehicles with rear climate? Maybe some one else can confirm this? On the BMW of Morristown Trademotion site.......Search by category, select your vehicle, select trim level, click "cooling system" on the left side of your screen from the list provided, scroll down to the 4th isometric picture on the left side of your screen which is the water pump. You now have the 2 water pumps in front of you. One with and one w/o 4 zone control. If you need to know part #'s utilize realoem.
