Hydraulic Leak - Please Help!

Hey guys,

I sprung a hydraulic leak in my 07 x5, from a small plastic cap I've circled in the attached picture. I haven't encountered this particular piece before and could use some insight.

I'm fairly certain its the pressure release valve, but not 100%? Can't find a good pic for this online.

Any help or assistance on how to best fix this tiny plastic piece without replacing the entire unit would be great

Thanks!

Where is that part in the car?

It is a part of the front suspension, near the steering. Check out my link to get a better idea about where under the car the picture is taken.

That looks like part of the Adaptive Drive system, the front stabilizer bar 'actuator'.

Little info DIY on that stuff yet as it is too new. A few have failed, with costs around $1400 plus labor. DO YOU HAVE ANY WARNINGS ON THE DASH?

What caused you to find this? can you take that cover off and inspect underneath?

You know.. I tried to take the cover off (little plastic cap) and I was fearful of snapping the damn thing as its so hard to access that I would have to pry it off with a screw driver. I've inspected the entire steering and active drive system pretty thoroughly, cleaning most parts up and this little plastic cap, is the only faulty suspect in the system. $1,400 is an un-acceptable cost for me. If I could only replace that dang cap, Im sure its pennies in comparison.

= Please help. There has to be a way to fix the problem without replacing the entire & functioning active drive system. Thank you for your responses I appreciate the read.

It looks like you should be able to replace the part with the brass colored hex nut with a part in #9 for $100 or so.

Something interesting....something about that part is NOT used with the '037 part... maybe the older version had a stabilizer bar with a separate pressure release valve, and the new part has it all integrated?

It will depend on what OP has in the car....looks like if it is the older (now discontinued) actuator, he CAN buy a separate pressure release valve...

OP, take the VIN and go to the dealer parts counter. Find out if that part will fit your car.

Awesome thank you for the feed back. I'm going to the parts counter to check it out. I could see the "new part on old model" scenario so I like that solution.

Thanks,

Re-looking, the change date on that diagram is 08 April...so if you have the old part, you should be able to buy #9. Post the results!
