engine idle rpm issue

Hi all,

I've noticed an issue with my car for a while. Its more noticeable when the A/C is on, but also happens when A/C is off too.

If you check out this video: https://youtu.be/PnFFqPKFUnQ?t=8s

You will see the x5 coming to a rest and the rpm settling and then it spiking 100-200 rpm above. It then stays there.

When the A/C is off, then you see the rpm go up 100-200 rpm when at idle (especially after when driven hard).

Also when its extremely cold outside (-25 degrees celsius), then I hear a whining noise from the engine bay. It goes away when engine gets warm.

Any ideas? I have a super slight rattle coming from engine bay driver side. Could any vacuum hose or anything like that be loose? This started ever since the dealership performed an injector rail bushing service.

It may be A/C and/or electrical engine heater loads intermittently commanding increased engine speed.

I've noticed the idle bumps up on my 30i when the AC is on. It's enough to make the rattle/vibration from the front in drive or reverse go away. I'm going to the dealer Tues. to get it looked at.

LOL A bad A/C clutch, rattles unloaded, loaded it's quiet and engine rpm higher.

So, another newbie Q uestion; A/C compressor is pistons or scroll?

IDK, it's a 2009. Interesting - the AC was inop and the selling used car dealer evacuated and recharged the system but could find no leak.
Hmmmm....
