2008 E70 X5 3.0 Center Console/Cigarette lighter socket

Hi, I have a 2008 E70 X5 3.0. I'm trying to replace a bad cigarette lighter socket. Fuse is OK. The socket wiring is really tight and I don't see a connector. Hate to pull to hard on wires I don't know where they go. I have taken the cover plate surrounding shifter & jog wheel. I think I need to remove the area where the cup holder & cigarette lighter socket is. Has anyone done this? Is this the correct direction for this project before I start unscrewing stuff.
