Front Speaker Popping/Crackling

Looking for suggestions:

2008 X5 - Standard Sound System, 120K miles

Every time I open the passenger side door the speaker pops/crackles in that door only. When driving, the right passenger door speaker pops/crackles intermittently but at times does seem to coincide with vehicle movement such as stopping and accelerating. Also, there is no sound coming out of the passenger side speakers when the radio or any other input is selected as confirmed using the fade/balance adjustments.

At this point I have not popped the door panel off to see if something is not connected securely at the speakers.

I have searched the board and while many people have had issues with their audio systems I could not find any that seemed similar to mine.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to start?

Thanks,
DJ

I would guess it's a short, I think you are going to have to pull the panel off.

Ever find a conclusion to this? My driver's side front speaker sounds like radio static all the time. It's just that speaker.

Guys its actually quicker to pull the door panel off and check the wire connectors to the speakers than it is to search the internet.
I had some asshat back into my rear door and I needed a totally new (to me) door installed. Well shortly after that I discovered the speakers in that door weren't working, even though I checked them when I picked up the car. I pulled the panel and all the wires had fallen off the connectors. This was a top notch body shop and even they didn't push the wire connections together enough to get them to stay on, so I know they can come loose.

It is a one beer job, then you will see and know what is going on with your specific situation. Several DIY videos on YT just to show you the procedure in case you've never done it. There are other wires for door lighting and the door handle cable, just go slow and pay attention and its a great learning experience!
If the speaker may be blown, you can connect the same speaker from the door on the other side of the car to verify.
