e70 n63 50i Lots of smoke coming from tail pipe - occasionally
I have been reading up on the N63 and problems with smoke from tail pipes due to possible PCV system or valve stem seals.. But still unsure as to what could be wrong with my car. 2011 x5 50i n63 41k miles on clock. On the odd occasion, maybe once or twice per week, not all the time. When car is warmed and after a hours of driving, including turning off and restarting etc. When I'm in traffic or stopped at the lights i suddenly get a flooding of smoke from the tail pipes, grey smoke (so possibly oil). This settles after about a minute, then sometimes happens again at the next stop idle. Then it may not happen for a few days or maybe a week. Its not consistent and only ever happens when its really warmed up, and only actually noticed it when its actually warm outside also. No puff of smoke when i do a cold start either. Not sure what could be the issue. I was thinking the valve stem seals would be the issue but thought it would be consistently there. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. D |

Likely injectors
I had something similar. Had to replace several injectors.

I am seeing the same smoke periodically on my 2012 50i, but I also have a foul stink in the Cabin. Initial diagnosis is valve stem seals. Going in to get looked at next week.
