Adaptive drive

Guys can someone in English explain to me what adaptive drive does and whether I should drive with that sport mode on or not.

You should do a search for the AD video... THAT will be much better than me trying to explain...like this:

BMW X5 Adaptive drive (4) - YouTube

It is one ALL THE TIME. The 'sport' setting just changes the stiffness. Drive what feels better!

It is NOT STANDARD. It is a $3500 option. Cannot imagine BMW giving it away by mistake. I'll bet the vin decoder is in error...or is calling it 'sport' or other nonsense...

Adaptive Drive was part of the Sport Package for my 2008 E70 4.8i. I think that it was not included in Sport Package in later years.

I really like the "active roll stabilization". It just eliminates body roll in corners. My son had to use my X5 for his Street Survival driving school last year and I wished I could have turned it off. Didn't matter how much he threw it around the track, it didn't roll or lean at all.

Don't know. Its just show it's an option. All know is the X was a
special order by the dealer and buyer decided did not want it when came
in.

If yours has the SPORT button under the shifter, it has AD ...

For some reason, a number of '13 35D manufactured around the May-July time frame in 2013 have AD. They are starting to show up on dealer lots ... Gwinnett BMW in Duluth GA ( BMW New & Used Car Dealer - Atlanta, Marietta & Duluth, GA | United BMW Gwinnett) has 6 executive demo's with AD sitting on their lot!

Yup that what mine looks like. So I get that it stiffens suspension but what is the lessens the steering angle mean... I'm just curious to understand when to use it and when not to.

True, that will tell if a car has AD

but Tex is saying the car didnt have AD listed on the new car window sticker nor on the pricing docs, yet has AD based on some vin decoder....

Harkens back to the "Oh my god, BMW made a mistake and gave me AD for free" threads...

If BMW's window sticker says 'no AD' and there is no sport button, but some unidentified vin decoder says AD, I'm going to guess the vin decoder may be mistaken.

However I get very interested when BMW sold it without an AD charge, no AD disclosed on the Monroni, yet the car has AD.

(Remember, the old "sport" package (in 2009) included AD, then BMW started calling some standard suspensions the 'sport' suspension...I could see someone mistakenly mixing this up when juggling the terms...)

It does have a sport button between shifter and the
parking brake. I can not find the copy of the window sticker.
Saleslady keep org but thought kept the two sheets she copied.
Just don't remember seeing it listed or her telling me. Since I
traded a BMW didn't really go over the car.
Be a year old end of May, time flies.

As far as the button, never gave it much thought. Figured was a
shock selector to stiffen the ride. Which do not need with those
wide tires. Like the paddle shifters on 335i never used them once.

Pricing Docs. ???? Checking paperwork, no other documents showing
options on the car. Sure thought 72K was high.

Doubt will ever use it since just drive around town.

Gonna see if can get an actual window sticker reproduction.

Sweet. AD is a rare option and one of my favorite. At 72k it is probably on the sticker.

Check out the video. AD is on all the time, even when you DONT select Sport you are still running AD.

The button just stiffens the ride, but in a bit more interesting way than just the shocks: the sway bar coupling changes and the dynamic change.

The simplest way I can describe it is this: AD makes the car drive as if it weights 1000 pounds less than it really does.

It is so well behaved that most drivers dont feel it and dont understand it..(which is why dealers never ordered a $3500 option for a car they would sell off the lot). Lucky you!

Enjoy
