Beefcrtns is on a distinguished road
Considering an E70 35d

Well with having a new addition to the family, totaling two car seats, it's time I give up my B8.5 S4. I would like to get back into another diesel vehicle. I've previously owned a stage 2 Jetta tdi and a Grand Cherokee ecodiesel and absolutely love them both. The E70 X5 35d caught my eye throughout my travels on the interwebs. Im mainly looking at 12-13's with 50-70k on the clock.

I've done some research and I've come up with mixed reviews. Some owners have reported that they are problematic junk and others absolutely love them and swear by them. I know of the problems with the emmisions system failures, low operating temps caused by the thermostat issues, leaky oil lines for the turbos and HB failure.

I'm very proactive and mildly obsessive when it comes to maintainence so if I do pull the trigger on a trade in the first things that are getting done are a thermostat replacement CBU cleaning while the manifold is off and replacing the HB and various belts. The emmisions delete fairy will also be stopping by in the future to work its magic.

Is there anything else that should be done right away or inspected for before purchase?

I'm also looking for a tally how many of you have high mileage 35d's and your experience during ownership.
