20" M Sport rims lacquer peeling

Hi All

My folks have got an E70 X5 M Sport, just over 3 years old and the lacquer is peeling on all 4 rims. It started on one rim after about 12 months but has now progressed to all four.

My Dad has been in consultation with the dealer and they are saying that the wheels have been washed with something which has caused this issue. Now, my Dad has owned many BMW's and other vehicles and is very fastidious with the maintenance of his cars. He always uses quality items to wash his car and has never had an issue like this before. We believe this is a defect with the vehicle and as such should be handled by the dealer.

I am just wondering, is this a common issue on the E70 M Sport rims and if so how have others gone about getting this resolved?

The rims in question are this style.
