Cool Minor mods and question

Hi Guys,

Gave the X5 a quick wash and did a few minor mods.

Huge thanks to jimf15e for helping me figure out how to get the damn cradle out, opens up the whole centre console.

Added some LED license plate lights that I got off eBay, I know some don't see a point in them but I think it makes the car look a little bit better especially until I source some LCI tails. They're not overly bright and it's hard to show in pictures but they look fantastic in person and take 5 minutes to put in and cost £15.

Also while washing the car I realised that the left wheel arch has got a massive amount of chips on it to the point where there is almost no paint, didn't know whether this was common or not as I'm going to have it re-sprayed and get some vinyl over it probably 3M Xpel, wanted to know your thoughts on that stuff
Thanks

Rear view camera update

Just a quick update with the LED license plate lights, they do make a significant difference to the rear view camera in the dark, as they are so bright they do render a small corner useless but it's a small price to pay. I've attached pictures below of the lights off vs on.

I didn't really expect it to do much but it made a massive difference, surpppose it's better than retrofitting a whole new camera that works in the dark.
Also wanted to know if anyone has experience on repairing the wheel arch yourself, possible with a colour matched spray paint, not sure how well it would work so wanted to know your opinion

Getting it repainted would be my suggestion. Iwould not do any self repair, unless you are talking about color matching and using auto pain... none of that rattle can stuff.

Good luck.

The paint chips thing is common problem. I had mine painted and 3m clear shield applied soon after. Done 6 months of driving and not a single mark
