The cooling system from HELL!!!
Anyway, here's the summary of all the work that's been done related to the cooling system on my 2008 X5 3.0si Saturday, September 17, 2011 Radiator Coolant (Water) pump Coolant Tank Coolant (4L) Friday, March 23, 2012 Radiator Tank + hoses Tuesday, July 31, 2012 Radiator Tank (FOC, under warranty) Saturday, October 27, 2012 Coolant Reservoir Coolant (2L) Monday, October 07, 2013 Radiator Tank Coolant (4L) Thursday, January 09, 2014 Radiator hoses Coolant Saturday, February 22, 2014 Coolant Radiator Tank (FOC, under warranty) Tuesday, March 25, 2014 Fan Belt (11287552084) Fan Belt (11287557257) Radiator Fan (17428618238) Radiator Water Valve (64116910544) Monday, October 20, 2014 Replace expansion tank Replace engine fan So the same problem happened again recently and I finally decided to try a new indy: The diagnosis: Fan is not running at optimal condition (fan speed do not increase when the temp. is high!) hence the water temperature is running high. (I didn't get the exact fault code nor managed to check the water temperature at that time!) BUT the engine fan was REPLACED by BMW dealer back in March this year! Unfortunately I was travelling and didn't have access to my service history. Given that the car was down AND it was my daily driver, I let them replace it. Sure enough a few weeks later, the problem returned. This time it's the radiator tank that's leaking!!! The floor of my parking spot is still dry but I want to give the benefit of doubts to this new indy so I let them do it as well. BUT on the morning AFTER I got the car back, I STILL had to top up 750ml of water to get the level to be above minimum!!! WTF!!! I was furious and send the car straight back to the mechanics and demanded the exact fault code: 2E83: Electric coolant pump working at reduced power... So I was told that I need to replace the coolant pump which was ALREADY replaced 3 yrs & ~55,000 km ago! What do you think guys? I got this new indy via a few personal recommendation w/ 1st hand experience. And I'm starting to run out of idea!!! |
