Sliding/tilt sunroof anti trap warning

Hi, today my sunroof wouldn't close all the way or open all the way, I put the ignition switch to the 2nd position without starting the vehicle and pushed the sunroof button for about 10 seconds and it reset and opened and closed the sunroof but now the sunroof is working fine but I have the SLIDING/TILT SUNROOF ANTI TRAP FUNCTION DEACTIVATED WARNING. Can anybody help me get rid of this message. Thanks

you said that you held the button for about 10 seconds for a reset... could it be that the reset procedure on the E70 is same as on the E53 - 75 seconds to hold the button pressed?

Yes it is thanks. Turn vehicle on and push sunroof button and hold it until it opens completely and closes all the way takes about a little over a minute and initializes and resets sunroof and problem over and warning message is gone.

Hi - I am getting the same error except my MY08 pano roof does not do anything. It is currently in fully closed position and when I tried to open or tilt the pano roof, it does not move. I tried the reinitialization procedure mentioned here by holding the button for over a minute but nothing. Anything else I can try? Thanks.

Unless you are prepared to spend $$$ in very short order, I'd be cautious. If it begins to open and gets stuck, AND you live in an area where it rains, you'll need to get it fixed.

Yes - car was ON when I tried this. As a matter of fact, I've tried it both with engine ON and with just ignition ON. Either way - nothing happened. I can hear a little noise when pressing on the button but that is about it. Moonroof did not move at all.

First of all thank you for this forum. We just picked up used 2012 xDrive50i and love it. Today we received the error message and I was able to clear it using this process. Problem is now the sun shade is getting stuck, so I am hoping this is any easy and not too costly fix. Anyone have this issue? Thanks.
