2008 4.8, smoke from engine bay when engine off

I have a 2008 4.8 with 121K on the clock, runs great. Up until yesterday i noticed a burning oil smell coming from the driver side of the motor rising when the car was off. No CEL, i will have inpa codes available tomorrow. Motor runs very smooth although lots of smoke rises when its off. I'm thinking its a valve cover gasket leak dripping on the exhaust? When looking underneath drops of oil come down on the ground. Anyone experience something like this? I am running mobil 1 synthetic 10w40 for the hotter months

You have an oil leak from the valve cover gasket.

Mine leaked from the oil cooler connection(right behind Alt.). Puked massive amounts of oil. $3 gasket.
If you don't have the oil cooler, I think there is another known leaker behind the alternator.

4.8 I think have oil coolers.

oil smoke is most likely valve cover gasket dripping onto the exahaust manifold.

I had an oil cooler problem before, entire thing cracked. Oil flowing out from it like the oil was bekng changed.

It is indeed a valve cover gasket, i got a set of two that came with new valve seals also. Man these cars are tough to deal with lol
