Low Oil level Warning

I have a 2014 X5 5.0. Tonight the low level light came on telling me to add two quarts of oil. As I didn't believe it needed that much oil out of the clear blue I added one quart and measured the oil level via I drive. Low and behold once complete it showed the oil level at the MAX level. If I had blindly followed the direction on the display I would have grossly overfilled the crankcase. Everyone should be aware that this warning is incorrect.

Wow that's odd, both of mine show that if 1 quart low. I thought every BMW warned at 1qt low. Does the owner's manual say 2qts when the light comes on as well? Nice catch...that would have been a mess.

No the book says 1 qt. I'll ask my dealer Thursday when I take my other BMW in for service.
