Advice needed for special order issue w/ Dynamic Handling Package
It turns out prior to ordering, he test drove an M-sport that probably had the Dynamic Handling Package. He told the dealer he wanted the same ride without the m-sport look. He wanted comfort seats anyway. But the dealer neglected to tell him about the Dynamic Handling Package option. He even asked and was told the Sport button was all he needed. He also asked about dynamic steering and was told "you don't want that, you will end up in a ditch!". He visited me last week and drove my E70 with Adaptive Drive and now understands the differences in the options/handling. You really only notice the difference when you take some fast turns which I doubt he had the opportunity to do when he accepted delivery. I read the ordering guide and it is ridiculously complicated. So now he has gone back to the dealer to try to turn this one in and order what he wants. How much of a hit is he going to take? Does he have any other options? It has 400 miles on it now and is already titled. Thanks

Honestly, he will take a huge hit. He is probably better off installing some aftermarket suspension (if anything is even available). The cost there will be less than the hit he will take trading in a car with less than 500 miles on it.
Id hope the dealer will make good, but all in all, sounds like he got what he ordered, but that's not what he wanted. :-/ Sent from my iPhone 6s using Tapatalk |

Trading My2016 F15 for DHP
Similar scenario for me. Went from a 2012 e70 with standard suspension to a 2016 F15 M-Sport with no DHP or M-Adaptive. Since the e70 stuck to the road like glue with little to no body roll and handled well, figured I should be good with the Comfort/Sport. I should have studied more. Comfort and Sport adjust steering, throttle and transmission responses - but do nothing for suspension.
The body roll in turns and off-ramps is very bad and the bounce on some pretty decent freeways is also very bad - no comparison to the e70. I am very disappointed on the sponginess of the ride. I ordered a new one today with the DHP option. In a weeks time - I will lose approximately $8K plus tax...in CA that is $6,400 - for a total loss of $14,400. I have a call into BMW USA to discuss since my test drive vehicle and area for test drive didn't exhibit the performance issues and am looking for some assistance to offset my losses. I am taking a huge chance that it solves the issue since there isn't a single DHP or M-Adpative Suspension at any dealer within a 1,000 miles and I do not want an aftermarket option - and driving the vehicle with the way it handles is too sloppy. |

BMW USA = Too Bad
Follow-up from BMW USA said essentially too bad, it is my problem. They can offer zero assistance or consideration since I am simply "unhappy" with how it performs compared to my last 6 BMW's. Should have leased the thing instead of bought it. My lesson learned.

I never test drove it because certain things to me were a given after 5 BMWs. I was wrong. After 4 months with the 50i I bit the bullet, opened the wallet and traded in the 50i for a '16 ///M. BMW seems to have watered down the basics to attract the Lexus and MB crowd who think the BMW is too hard a ride. My F16 was the M sport with DHP. It paled in comparison to the E71. Even now with the M, although harder and stiffer, it's not as solid as the E71. My heart belongs to my E71s. I've never driven either the E70 or E71 with standard suspension so I can't elaborate on that. I hope it all works out and you're happy. Good luck.

He has not been using the sport because it pushes up the shift points and he does not want that. I think he can change that in the idrive settings right? The 328i loner I have now allows either chassis or drivetrain to be disabled. He just wants the electric steering to firm up a bit.

DHP Adjust

I've noted many users state with DHP they adjust suspension and leave throttle response at comfort. |

My e70 had standard suspension and performed great. Little to no body roll and great response in corners and regular roads. Typical BMW snug. I ordered my replacement f16 is on order but hasn't started production yet and will have DHP...which I've read in multiple posts and reviews solves the suspension performance issue...? |
