If they lowered it that much, top end performance would be nonexistant. Plus, they can have both since they're using VGT's. You can throw conventional thinking out the window out once you start using them.

Correction

My bad. They did not say exactly what the hp would be on the V8. Salesguy is thinking 407 is on the light side and it would probably be in the 450 range. I repeated what I was told at the consumer group I went to a few months back.

I6 is correct at 360 hp.

Is it still a 3.0 liter engine? Cause the current 3.0 Twin Turbo is 306 hp (probably less in the U.S. since the 3.0si is 272 hp here vs. 260 hp in America). Sounds like a substantial increase…

People who reflash their current 335i's easily get 360hp. It's turbcharged..not that hard to get more power.

400 bhp is about right....it will be nowhere near 500 bhp. The M3 is the wrong comparison.

M3 engine is a much higher state of tune than the V8 TT that will go in the X5. It's a completely different engine and has very different characteristics it's tuned to produce high horsepower at high revs to the detriment of torque which is not what you want in the X5.

A good comparison would be the 335i and the 330i....the twin turbo engine there only produces 30bhp more. It does however produce 400 nm of torque at 1300 rpm versuse 320 nm at 2750 rpm which is a huge difference.

To best of my info. Perhaps you know that M6 is getting a power boost on the CSL edition. Its definetily a first for ///M and they choose X6 rather than X5 as X6 is more sporty.
