X6 Suggestion

OK, I've seen the production photos. Thanks to all those who posted. This version isn't targeted at me, but in considering the look I think that BMW has compromised too much in trying to appeal to a broader demographic.

If the aim is to build an exclusive executive personal-statement vehicle, it just isn't distinctive enough.

If there was a short wheelbase version, quite a bit lighter, 2 door, two seater with a proper sunroof, exclusive options, and useful storage space, now that would be interesting. As it is, it comes across as just a raised car.

Thoughts?

I agree in many respects. The front-end is not distinctive enough and too much like the X5, it seems too long, and they haven't taken enough weight out of it, although there is little option to have done so considering that most of the weight is in the chassis/drivetrain/engine (which is identical to the X5).

I would like to see it and drive it before deciding. I'd rather not go out on a limb and hope that there is a momentum of interest that builds up after more information comes out.

I am going for the X5 M verison. I was under the impression that the X6 would fullfil my needs, however it appears to have come up a bit short. I like you, will reserve my final judgemnet for the test drive.

Just a reminder of why many of us became 'really' interested in the X6..

I wonder if this look will be available as an M-Sport upgrade? It certainly needs the bigger wheels.

I personally think that it looks fantastic from the front, but from the back it leaves a little to be desired.

BMW has decided it wants to compete with Japan instead of Germany IMO.

That picture looks amazing!!! That is what I was hoping for, but for some reason, BMW decided not to bring the X6 to market looking like that. I can only assume that it was a cost issue.

Totally in agreement with you but knowing BMW, there will be huge option alloys and bigger engines producing more power but as a drivers car is it ever going to be as focused as an M3 or M5??...from what i have heard the M6 is a lil bit to big to be really good too im thinking this will suffer the same downfalls

It will have to rely on so much jiggery pokery (technical term for computers) to keep it on the road due to its center of gravity etc i cant see the point...i wanted to love this car but it keeps getting worse the more i look at it!

I've really not had any problems keeping my AMG ML63 on the road despite its ability to accelerate at the same pace as M5's, Ferarri F430s. You cannot corner as quickly but there's no obvious magic required to drive it at the limit and enjoy the experience.

If the X6 is a league ahead of the competition dynamically then it will be truly inspiring.
