X6 Sighting on the 101
Hello everyone, I haven't posted in a while but I've got a couple of interesting things you may want to check out.
I caught an uncladded X6 on the 101 southbound last night on my way home from SF. I really wasn't able to get any good pictures but my sister was able to catch a couple of videos of it running using her canon digital camera (quality could have been better with a real video camera) Basically, I was trying to keep up with it for about an hour and a half. I was averaging somewhere around 90mph just to stay within 4-5 car lengths behind it. It would occasionally sprint somewhere past 130 mph since I was hitting close to 130 (speedometer readiing) and it was still pulling away like stupid fast. I don't know what he had under that hood (4.4 bi turbo?) but that thing pulled away like crazy whenever the driver hit the throttle (good thing there was some slight traffic for me to catch up). The driver could have left me eating his dust if he wanted to but he saw how psyched I was actually seeing that car running so he slowed down and ran his car beside me a couple of times for a few seconds for me to get a pretty good look at it. I was praying that he would stop over at a gas station to load up or take a leak but I had to make an exit for some food since my family was hungry. This car is gorgeous. The design of the X6 never really appealed to me but when you see this car actually running, WOW. I know this thread is worthless without pics or vids but since I'm at work right now, these will have to wait. Also, I am not quite familiar on posting videos/pictures so if I someone could help me out (maybe I could send you the video and you can post it for me) I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to get these videos posted up tonight as a pre-Christmas treat cause I'm sure some of you are dying to see them. If you guys have any questions, fire away and I'll do my best to answer them for you. Until then, have a great day everyone and happy holidays.

I sent you a PM with my email address to forward the video to me. I'll try to upload it to the site.

Nice catch. Was it a 3.5 or 5.0? Did you check the exhausts?

I recall the exhaust was a 3.5i. The X6 was exactly in that color. It didn't have the bmw logo at the back (something else, couldn't see and didn't want to be a pest by tailgating him the entire time I was following him) or any badges. Well if it was a 3.5 i, I am damn excited to see how well the 5.0 performs. Videos were taken in the dark, so it might be a bit blurry but I got some decent footage of it. Pardon the language in the videos when they get posted. We were speaking in our native tongue.

The Tasman (grey) one above is actually a 35d, but I am sure the exhaust tips on the 35i are very similar.
I look forward to the video.

X6 Spotted in Greenville/Spartanburg,SC
I live in the Upstate area of SC.I ended up last week behind a red X6 on I-85.The car left the BMW Plant exit and headed north on I-85.The car seemed almost to be a final production model. The only camo tape was on the BMW logo's and there was no badging on the car.The driver seemed to be fiddling w/ something on the steering wheel.I pulled up alongside the car on the interstate. The driver seemed not to feel like he needed to shake me from looking. The car is absolutely 1,000% better looking in person than any of the just released BMW beauty shots. The car exited into the City of Spartanburg and I dropped off behind him to see where he was going.I got beside the X6 at a traffic light and held up an "X" with my hands and then 6 fingers. The driver had a huge smile on his face and gave me a big thumbs up!Since I drive an X3 maybe he felt I was extended family.A lot of these test drivers around town are not nearly as friendly. The driver ended up pulling into a shopping center and going to a Marble Slab Creamery. He parked the X6 in kinda of a secluded space somewhat behind the shopping center.I should have gotten out and stuck my nose in the window.I guess I did not want to push my luck. The X6 is a beautiful machine in person. It appears smaller than dimensions would make you believe.I should have snapped a few pics but did not.The X6 was the 3.0 TT(round exhaust-black front kidney grill). The car did have huge staggered tires and the V-8 X5 style wheels-looked very sharp! My neighbor works at the plant and told me BMW has been producing production X6's for about the last two weeks.Up until the Xmas break for the plant, approx 12 production X6's were being produced each day, after the Xmas break production will go to 20 X6's per day in Jan.The first 1,500 or so production X6's will be stored and shipped to dealers at once around the official launch date.My neighbor confirmed "M" versions of both the X5 and X6.No timetable was given for the "M" versions.I'll keep my eyes open and ears to the ground.Thanks.
