New X6 Photo's including XDrive50i Fresh From The Factory

Hey guys.I hit the lotto at the BMW Factory today! X6's crawling all over the place. My luggage was lost on a canceled flight last night.Had to wait at the local airport today for a Flight w/ my luggage.Rather than wait an hour at the airport or go back home, I decided to see what was happening at the plant. The Airport is right next door to the plant. The White X6 was upclose to the plant and the two guys inside were messing w/ the center console. The wheels were pretty neat. The line of X6's following the Z4 is pretty interesting.I'm certain this was a group of Auto Journalist,Dealers,or some other VIP's.Somebody was getting an early look and test drive of the X6. I think this might have been 2 35i's and 2 50i's,given the 2 back grills and 2 chrome grills. But all of this cars seemed to have the rounded exhaust tips which would indicate the 35i's.I think BMW might be trying to fake us out until launch. These cars proceeded directly to the Performance Center.I found a place to catch a few pic's of the X6's on the track.Whoever was driving these cars were hammering the heck out of these babies!!! The exhaust note of these X6's were awesome. If these were the 35i's, and I'm pretty sure they were,BMW has really upped the growl of the TT I6.The Red X6 is the first XDrive50i I've seen anywhere around here. You can clearly see the rectangle exhaust tips,a TT V-8 for sure.Of course this "heavy metal" was sneaking in BMW's local "Skunk Works",the "Special Vehicle Operations" Bld.I got to find out what goes on in there. The Silver X6 was not part of the Performance Center group. Not sure where it was heading.I thought I had settled on Black as my favorite color, but the Silver sure is looking good!!This might take several post. Enjoy! Thanks. PalBay

Palbay, you are doing an excellent job and its really appreciated.

This week I changed my order from the 5-spoke 20" Style 259 wheels to the 20" Style 214 wheels, but those pictures of the Vermilion Red make me think I'll change it back again...

The silver looks very sporty on the X6, better than Space Grey, but Vermilion also looks sporty. I feel the X6 needs a sporty colour otherwise it looks too businesslike.

My other favourite in your pictures is the troop of 4 X6's following the Z4. That's a great photo showing the family resemblance and also how much presence the X6 has on the road.

Now, about the sound you refer to. I'm in an eternal dilemma whether to stick with the 35d that I've ordered or switch to the 35i. Common sense says stay with the diesel (which I'm not a great fan of), but your mention of the 35i sounding good is making me doubt that decision (again!).

Could you perhaps elaborate a little more on the sound? (are you sure you weren't listening to the 50i going around the circuit?)

Steved,I appreciate the nice comments.Glad to help w/ your decision, these things are expensive!I cannot for sure confirm that all the X6's on the track were 35i's.Although the line of X6's had two black and two chrome grills,I cannot say I had the presence of mind to look at the tailpipes as this parade when by.I was expecting to maybe see 1 X6 come through this drive.I about pooped in my pants when this convoy drove by!!!!! I have not seen a 50i anywhere until the pic of the red one going in the gate. That does not mean that BMW did not build a couple to show to whoever these VIP's were. The one good pic of the X6 on the track seemed to be a 35i based on the tailpipes. At the location I was standing next to the track, the cars were moving so fast I was having trouble just getting a few decent shots w/ my digital camera. I just could not get enough of a look to confirm the exact type of X6.If there were two 35i's and two 50i's on the track,it was very hard to distinguish the difference in the sound from where I was standing.I know that's not much to sink your teeth into.I'll keep my ears open for the exhaust notes.Thanks.Palbay
