IMO unless it's a truck 3 people in the back seat of most anything is just uncomfortable. I guess if folks can afford it go for it but if i had a family i would certainly be looking at something much more practical than an X6.

Rear seats not a problem in my view. 4 is a perfect balance that is what lots of people call practical.....

I can understand why BMW has gone for the sportier rear seat configuration what I don't understand is why they haven't given people the option of specifying an X5 rear seat. It can only hurt X6 sales not having this option, maybe all those sales will go to the X5 though?

My prediction is that BMW will change their mind and offer a more practical rear seating optionin in the future.

Remember BMW are only planning to gain between 25% and 30% of the volume of X5 sales, so they have no intention of selling anywhere near as many cars as they would if it was an X5.

That's very true but I do think it's still a consideration even targetting that kind of sales volume. Having said that I am sure BMW has done the research and has not taken the decision lightly...nothing happens without a lot of thought.

I think if BMW wanted you to have 5 seats, they'd tell you to get an X5. Why compete with a car they're already selling?

X6 is probably slightly higher margin than the X5 given it's got less bodywork and costs more. That's a very good reason!

I will be over at the Geneva show next week, so will have a sit in the X6 and see how it feels for myself.
